What Is Informative?

Informative Speaking is a 10-minute presentation written and performed by the student. Informative requires students to balance that content with delivery and style. Students in Informative must be articulate, engaging, and smooth with their delivery at both a vocal and physical level. The purpose of the event is to inform and educate the audience on a topic of significance. Students may or may not employ the use of visual aids in the performance.

Jenna Tran, Informative Captain

Jenna Tran is a Sophomore and Skyline Speech and Debate’s very first Informative Captain. Initially, she had done Public Forum, but when there were no spots left for the region tournament, she and Mr. Henry decided to throw her into a new event and see how she did. To her shock, she actually performed exceptionally and was charmed by the many fun qualities of Informative Speech. The creative props, interesting topics, and entertaining opponents won her over, converting her from a sole debater into a speech kid, as well. She wishes to help Informative grow as it is a new event, and with new things comes a fear of the unknown. She offers to be the light for both new and experienced debaters that will guide them down the path of Informative speech in Skyline’s Speech and Debate Team.
